

About the Role
The Interim Controller plays a key role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) by overseeing day-to-day accounting activities and ensuring the organization’s financial information is accurate, compliant, and timely. This position partners with multiple departments to maintain reliable financial records, strengthen internal controls, and contribute to ongoing financial planning efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage the full spectrum of accounting operations, delivering prompt support and effective solutions to internal teams and external partners.
- Prepare and review journal entries, bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, and monthly financial statements for CFO approval.
- Handle financial reporting and accounting oversight for joint ventures, collaborating with external accounting professionals as needed.
- Coordinate annual audit preparation, ensuring all required documentation is organized, complete, and readily available for auditors.
- Maintain organized digital and physical records and perform periodic internal reviews to confirm adherence to company policies.
- Support onboarding processes and assist with select HR-related tasks, including employee benefit enrollments, communication with benefit providers, and addressing employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and financial matters.
- Maintain confidential personnel files and perform employment verifications.
- Safeguard the accuracy and integrity of financial information and distribute reports to leadership and team members as requested.
- Manage the company’s credit card program, including issuance, funding, and compliance with expense documentation and internal control standards.
- Process vendor invoices, recurring bills, and employee reimbursement requests accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and submit required business filings, such as annual licenses, personal property reports, and payroll-related submissions.
- Track and reconcile commission activity from various revenue sources, generate commission statements, and administer commission payments.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Five (5) or more years of experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior-level accounting role.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, regulatory reporting requirements, and best practices in accounting operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience with accounting systems or ERP platforms.
High attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and a proactive approach to work.
Positive attitude with the ability to adapt to challenges and shifting priorities.
